Worth a Listen - There is a new virus in town!

Grabbed this video from another blogger!

It is definitely worth a listen.
A more detailed and reasonable description of what is happening in the world
than what you will get on a short news clip on TV or radio.

Covid-19

That was an excellent presentation. Oh, that it would be watched by EVERYone – at least everyone in power. But then again, I'm either cynical or realistic enough to think that many of those in power would take away the message that this virus will be an effective "cleanser" of the very people they find troublesome: those without good insurance coverage (more likely to vote for universal healthcare), the poor (more likely to vote against those who put corporate interests above all else), the disenfranchised (because they are often the wrong color and/or religion), and the old (all those pesky associated costs and "entitlement programs").

Isn't it good? I don't know if it was my blog where you saw it, but when I posted it to my site and wrote some thoughts, I hoped it would enlighten others. I so appreciated the focus on suppresing the virus, as opposed to simply self protection. It's been very calming to have that perspective. Now if our society and communities will just get with the program...

Thanks for this. I saw a very short version of this interview on the tv recently. The full version is much better.

I agree with Michelle. Also, I wish I had confidence that our government had the same concerns and intelligence as the UK and was on top of this threat, but I most definitely don’t. They had the opportunity after closing our borders to China weeks ago to begin putting aggressive interventions in place but instead the administration only displayed its ignorance and wasted that time. “Wash your hands” is not sufficient. “Get a flu shot” is ridiculous.

A very excellent source for good information. I am so tired of the news 'bites' that are all hyperbole. I wish we could resurrect Walter Cronkite. Thank you for posting this!

Dan Rather is still a voice of reason, Susan, but you have to follow him on Facebook.

I've just cancelled a trip I had planned at the beginning of April. I live in a state that now has 11 cases - our governor just announced a state of emergency (which allows us get federal aid). Illinois is on top of things. But still . . . I have asthma, so while I'm not an alarmist I am paying attention and being careful.

It's all quite scary but yes, Channel 4 in particular are providing good, sensible coverage of what's going on.
