Achy breaky knuckles

For the last few weeks I have noticed a definite change in my hands.  Specifically my knuckles!

They are sometimes achy.

Like today.  Outside it was cold and wet and my knuckles were very achy.  Enough that I needed to pop a few Advil!!

So what the heck is that all about.

I am 65 and those knuckles have served me well for many years without complaint.  They aren't particularly beautiful, and they aren't knobby or wrinkly or bumpy or crackly.  They are just knuckles.

They have done their job for many years without calling attention to themselves.

And now they are becoming attention-getters!  Crap!

Could this be the early signs arthritis?  No.  My mom and sister are plagued with this condition, but I have always felt blessed to have missed that bullet.

Double Crap!

Now I am not feeling so blessed.

Triple Crap!

Oh I sure hope not. Maybe it was just a 'one of' and you won't be bothered with it again. I'd cross my fingers but they don't do that anymore.

Well, if you made it this far without it maybe it'll just be mild and only bother you depending on the weather. I started having problems with my hands when I was in my early 40s. It gets worse over time and depending on the weather and I worry that by the time I'm in my 60s it will be severe enough to stop me from being able to do certain things. I consider myself lucky enough because I was tested for Rheumatoid Arthritis when I was in my teens. That wasn't my problem, but I remember the doctor saying that if it was I would be disabled by the time I was in my 30s. That scared me.

I hope it isn't anything serious. At 60, I feel the cold more than I used to, but am fortunate that my hands aren't giving me trouble. My mom had already had trouble at 60. I hope to remain lucky.
